It’s been quite a year already for KUTZ Volunteers and supporters, especially those folks migrating from KUBU.
After weeks of not very good news…I have good news to share! We are moving forward with the FM antenna placement on the Warehouse Artist Lofts (WAL) building on R street in downtown Sacramento. This is an amazing opportunity to partner with local artists that live and work in the building. The building is 6 stories and when our Antenna is up, we will have a huge broadcast range…All of Sactown and then some…and a clearer signal.
Our transmitter and station system will be located at the WAL building to ensure a secure and sustainable location for years to come. We’re working out the details now…back on-air soon!
But wait.. There’s more!
The WAL building has a very cool basement that was supposed to be a radio station / studio space. It needs some serious cleaning and a lot of new ventilation work. This is a big project that will take some big grant money and fundraising.. But we are determined to make it happen. This will be a studio for DJs to produce shows and go live on air. We’ll record and interview local bands and have a small audience to complete the vibe.
This move is such a huge opportunity for KUTZ and we would not be moving ahead without the support of the community we serve. Thanks to supporter donations and volunteer effort we are able to make this move happen. This is what makes community radio so powerful. Supporters and volunteers that care and bring their talents to the table for everyone to benefit. When we work together, we can do amazing things. KUTZ is a truly amazing FM survival story. In these times.. We are doing something that will grow our community, and help us all stay sane. Music heals and brings people together.
We still need help reaching our fundraising goal of $2500 to make this antenna move happen. We’re at ~1600 now. We need to hit that $2500 mark to have a rockin’ supporter party when we’re back on-air.
And that’s the Good News!
Let’s rock 2025 with a new antenna, new location, and great local music.
John Ellis and the KUTZ volunteer crew!
